These days there are many different ways to have an online web presence...
Here we've listed the different types of websites that exist & how they can be implemented as well as website alternatives:
•Static website / Brochure-ware.
Appropriate for someone keeping a permanent web-page of collected archived material like images or perhaps recipes or information for reference that does not need updating. Sometimes a web-page can be set up with the sole purpose of data collection or automated mailing list submission and can be synchronised to work with auto-responder software. It's even possible to create a static website to advertise a one-off event like a music Festival or other cultural event. an example of a static website... www.translatortips.com
•Dynamic website.
A dynamic website's content is not static and can change frequently or periodically according to how often it needs updating. This would be appropriate for an individual maintaining records or an estate agent that was regularly updating it's property listings. Dynamic websites are also appropriate for developing businesses. For example a company may use a dynamic website as part of a web-based advertising campaign when launching a new product & as its brand becomes increasingly well known it may want to increase its web presence by maintaining a company blog. Any static website can be made dynamic with the addition of a blog which is in its very nature dynamic content. Dynamic websites can be adapted according to the ever-evolving needs of the client. This website is a dynamic one!
•Personal website.
A website maintained by one person and centred around the personal interests of that person be they friends/family life/weddings/expeditions/life experience etc etc. Or alternatively a website produced for a particular society or organisation with potential for multiple-site editors.
Facebook FanPage
A lot of businesses are embracing Facebook as part of their marketing model finding that they and their clients find it mutually beneficial for developing relationships as it is a cheap and effective way for communicating with their service users and generating interest & feedback for their products.
Google Places also functions in the same way allowing business owners to write or upload content to their business listing & make their business more prominent in local search results thus attracting more sales.
